Using ReliaTel, administrators have a powerful solution to automate the initiation of provisioning scripts and processes, reducing the need for manual intervention and the possibility of errors. As the provisioning for each target progresses, ReliaTel automatically initiates alarms and notifies administrators of any exceptions, errors, or outstanding conditions that impact the successful completion of installations or upgrades on any target.

If necessary, administrators utilize ReliaTel direct Out-of-Band console access to control provisioning activities on each target, interact with the target host console, and resolve any issues that may occur during remote installations or upgrades.

In addition, ReliaTel’s optional STEPAR reporting facility provides historical reports of all provisioning events, exceptions, and operational metrics for analysis by administrators and management.

Using ReliaTel, provisioning administrators can:

• Automatically initiate a group of new upgrades or installs on specified target servers.

• Monitor the target host’s installation or upgrade process, and initiate alarms for any exceptions occurring on the target console, including POST or boot exceptions as they occur on the target.

• Automatically notify staff of any exceptions or conditions occurring on any target host during installation or upgrade, through visual / audible alarm displays, e-mail, or pagers.

• Monitor the target host’s installation or upgrade log files, initiate alarms for any exceptions occurring, and notify staff of those exceptions in the preferred media, including pager, e-mail, and visual / audible alarm displays.

• Playback, using the ReliaTel Playback GUI option, all historical console access traffic to review keystroke for keystroke, what occurred during the installation.

• Generate historical and statistical reports showing the duration of installations or upgrades, and any exceptions occurring, through the ReliaTel STEPAR statistical reporting facility.
